Upon reading the post below --

DNB: "Not that it's not great that you're on a top blog list or anything . . . "

Me: "Yes?"

DNB: "Any special reason you're listed as a top BREAK UP blog?"

Me: "Surprise!"

Wake Up to a Break Up, Or Guys, Stop Being Bastards

Big thanks to Wake Up to a Break Up for including -ocityishness as one of their Top Blogs!

My favorite part of the site is the Man Panel, a "guy on the street" video segment - especially the one where the guy says the worst place to break up with a girl is at her mother's dining room table. When her father is an avid drinker.

Pay Me, and I'll Post More Often

Last night, the DNB looked at the site and was all, "I'm concerned about your blog. You aren't posting enough."

And I got a little offended because sometimes I feel like I'm working on 5,000 things at once. And when you're working on 5,000 things you have to PRIORITIZE, and my priorities generally go: #1. Things That Make Me Money So My Husband Can Afford to Buy Power Tools and #2. Things My Husband Nags Me About that Don't Make Me a Dime. List #2 usually just involves blow jobs, but now also includes blogging.

"What, do you think I just sit around all day every day?" I replied in a huff.

"NO," he said emphatically. "Not every day."

If You Would Like to Pay Loads of Money to Advertise Here, Call Me.

I think I would like David Thorne. Not only because he doesn't believe chiropractors are real doctors, but also because he tried to pay an overdue bill with a drawing of a spider. If you haven't read his email exchange regarding the Spider Payment, it's well worth your time.

His post inspired me, and I was thinking about ways I could pay my bills that didn't involve my own money. I decided that I should probably try to get companies to paid loads of money for the privilege of advertising here on my World Famous Site. My Technorati ranking of 1,209,239,320,398,981 does not concern me.

It's called NICHE, people.

Dear Readers,

I haven't posted lately because I've been terribly busy with important work-type things. Full disclosure: it may be another week before regular posting resumes.

On a related note, I emailed my great-uncle to ask him some advice about these work-type things. I get a response via Blackberry: "I am currently on an elk hunt in New Mexico . . . ." First, who even knew there were elk in New Mexico? Second, an ELK HUNT? Who DOES that? Don't say it fast, by the way.

Believing this should explain a lot,
S

A Postless Tuesday

Working on a few bigger upcoming posts, so forgive the dry spell while I get them ready. I start Adult Beginner Ballet classes tomorrow night, so no doubt the hilarity will re-ensue shortly thereafter.

Change Is Inevitable

I've been playing around with my "fun little logo," as the DNB would call it, just before I punch him in the head for being patronizing. T-shirts are in the works, but I wanted a new look first. Is it all horrible?

Discuss.

Like I need another excuse to drink

Today -ocityishness will hit the 10,000 visitor mark!

I think that's pretty cool for a year-old blog with minimal promotion. I think this proves it's not just my mother obsessively clicking refresh to bump up the counter. There has to be AT LEAST ten of you doing that.

Thank you so much to everyone who reads, especially the regulars who keep coming back despite all the crappy posts.

And then celebrate for real by indulging in a giant frozen alcoholic beverage. It's Friday, it's almost summer, and you've suffered through a lot of posts to get this far.

This is no prank

Amidst all the jocularity of April Fool's Day, let me draw your attention to something that is not at all funny: how much I care about each and every one of you.

I've spent literally hundreds of hours wishing I knew any programming language at all. Because then this blog would be as fancy as you deserve. Since I don't, improvements to the site have been few and far between. However, I stayed up until at least 9:15pm last night putting the final touches on a thing I like to call Email Subscriptions. It's a new way to hide your -ocityishness habit from the prying eyes of your coworkers and to ensure that you can always access the latest posts, even if the library computers have filters.

Sign up using the link above or in the sidebar, and let me know how it goes.

Feeds Are Updated

Click here to update your -ocityishness feed subscriptions - in my opinion, the best way to receive content updates from all the blogs and sites you read regularly.

Something about inevitability and also vending machines.

Some of you like routine, so I'm warning you now that changes are afoot.

And I'm not talking about the weather, although it is 4 degrees in Minnesota today. Welcome to the north, kids.

The DNB Finally Reads This Blog

"Baby," he complains, "You portray me as fat, lazy, incompetent, and stupid."

"That's not true, honey," I reply soothingly. "I've never portrayed you as fat."

Less lame, more posts.

I realize that I have been extremely lame as of late. For the two of you who read this, it must have been absolute hell dealing with the sudden post vacuum. The problem will be rectified shortly.

In the meantime, cauliflower is neither collie nor flower. Discuss.
